Similes and short poems

I wrote most of these all at the same time, when I was in a kind of short poem simile stage. I lot of them are similes on aspects of myself. This was in some ways a way for me to figure out who I am.

Sunshine and Cloudy Days
My happiness is like the sun,
Not always visible, but always there.
Sometimes obscured by a cloudy day,
But summer draws it out again.

The Rains
I am like the flower,
The rain is like my passion,
The rain refreshes me,
It quenches my thirst,
Helps me grow.
But too many drops will flood,
And slowly I shall wilt.
And long for the sun.

Full Moon
My confidence is like the moon.
Slowly it waxes and wanes
Until glowing and full,
Or not even there.
But the cycle continues,
And never stays too long in one place.

Mountains
My trials are like mountains.
My life the mountain range.
And I only keep climbing
Because the view gets better and better
Each time I reach the top.

Hope of an Arctic Sunrise
My hope is like an arctic sunrise,
Struggling to burst forth,
Barely reaching the horizon,
Before falling back down to Earth,
Longing to someday climb the sky.

The sea
My emotions are the sea,
One moment fierce and strong,
The next calm and quiet.
Full of waves,
Big and small,
With unfathomable depths.

Still as a Pond
My self-esteem is like the pond,
Easily disturbed by the smallest of pebbles,
Each sending ripples throughout the hole,
Until every drop is affected.

River
The river is my like my confidence,
Raging and fast,
Disturbed by only the strongest boulder,
But even then continuing strong.

Wind’s Confusion
My love is the wind,
Blowing North, South, East, West,
Sometimes raging sometimes light,
Cold as ice,
Fire’s ride,
A storm,
A breeze,
Confused,
Yet sometimes still,
And at peace.

A morning smile
His smile is like a morning bird’s song,
Waking me from my slumber,
Welcoming me to a new day
Filling my heart with joy unknown, unmeasured.

A Rose
My heart is a rose,
Blossoming in spring sunshine,
A symbol of beauty.
Soft and sweet,
Yet wild and radiant,
A symbol of love.

Music
My mind is music,
A thousand different tunes,
Played with only a few notes,
But millions of moods,
And countless rhythms.
